• Explain why you think this is your most successful image
I think this is my most successful image because I worked to really emulate the lighting that the photographer used and get a light and dark contrast with the book pages and pens on top. I also like how I positioned the book the same with the left pages on a bit of an incline because it adds some depth to the photo as well.
• Tell us what was the most challenging aspect of this assignment
The most challenging aspect of this assignment was trying to find a photographer that I wanted to emulate. I wanted to find a photographer that chose something different to take photos of. What I found interesting about this photographer is that she paired items together that aren't usually used together and made a really interesting photo out of it. That's why I found it a little challenging to emulate her photos but once I chose three of her photos I was inspired to really look through objects in my house and create a unique photo with them.
• Explain what you will do in the future to create stronger images
In the future I will create stronger images by keeping a more creative eye out for my photos. I tend to gravitate toward photos that are unique and out of the ordinary therefore I want to become that photographer myself. Pairing objects or scenery together that are uncommon is something I want to explore more into and get stronger at.
Hi Kyle!, I want to say that your picture is very amazing and I can really see how you were able to incorporate what seems to me like the life of college student in contrast to the other image which shows the book in the dark. Also the way how you brought out the idea of what was to be and made it your own really says a lot about how creative you can be which is amazing! My critique is that the positioning of the the book at hand could probably be slightly adjusted but I can for sure see what was being brought out. Also, a little bit more darkness to your photo could help with the surroundings…
Hi Kylie!! I think you chose a great and very interesting photograph to emulate yourself. Your take on it was very clever and the way you angled the camera to really capture the subject of the pens laying on the planner. The way you made the background darker to emphasize the vocal points and make the colors of the pens and the white from the planner stand out really draws in the viewer. I really enjoyed this image and your explanation for why its your most successful image!

Hi Kylie! I think you did a great job emulating Nina Mingioni. I think the subject matter is similar to the type of subject matter Mingioni would capture in her photography, so in the aspect your photograph is great. My critique is, I think your image would have been a better emulation if the entire background was dark or black. It seems consistent in her work that the lighting is very dim with a black background, and your image has the light wood of the desk in the back. Other than this, I really enjoy this image! Good job!
Hi Kylie! I really liked the photos that you took! I think you did a great job emulating your photographer with what you had around you! I especially liked this particular photograph because of the perspective and the lighting. Even though I do really like your photo, the only critique I have is that I believe your photographer used softer lighting and your photograph was definitely more bold causing more contrast. Overall, great work!
